Groundsel

Groundsel

Groundsel is a small, upright annual weed. It is small so typically not as big a pest as many othe rweeds, but sprouts early so large investations can compete in young crops.

Fluffy seeds let groundsel spread with the wind. Groundsel sprouts and flowers year round, and will continue even after being uprooted.

Groundsel has fleshy leaves and stems, and shallow roots, typically growwing up to approximately 30cm high. The green green flower heads with yellow flowers open once the seed is ripe. Its short lifecycle (5-6 weeks from germination to seeding) make it important to get on top of it early.

Groundsel is generally easily controlled, though is resistant to some herbicides.
